Monster Energy’s Brett Rheeder Wins the Crankworx Les 2 Alpes Slopestyle Event

Monster Energys Brett Rheeder is one contest away from winning the Triple Crown of Slopestyle, which is a new title that was set as the ultimate challenge to see if one rider could take home all three Crankworx Slopestyle victories in a single year to establish the perfect season.

After winning the inaugural Crankworx Rotorua event in New Zealand, Reeder came to France confident and ready to dominate taking home his second win at Crankworx Les 2 Alpes. Battling loose dusty dirt and difficult wind conditions, the young Canadian took home his second win of the year and now leads the Crankworx Triple Crown series as well as the FMB Diamond series.

Rheeder’s first run raised the bar to a level beyond what the international line up of riders could touch, scoring a 93.25, four points more than his nemesis and fellow Canadian friend Brandon Semenuk, earning him enough to take home the win.

Hailing from Ontario, Rheeder had to sit and watch as Semenuk dropped in as the only rider that could bump him off the top spot, but a mistake on his final run would hand Rheeder the win.

“I dont know what to say. Im so happy its crazy! I am still shaking; this all just seems so surreal. He just stopped for whatever reason, and that left me in first, said Rheeder. I missed a couple of things and had to improvise, but somehow it all just worked out.

Rheeder was shocked as he crossed the line after his victory lap being hailed as the new ‘Golden Boy’ of slopestyle.

The course here in France featured 12 trickable features, including a skinny wooden roll in, an iconic whale tale and a freeride MTB style road gap for riders to throw down on.

Rheeders run was packed with style and progressive tricks on this wild course: a flat drop backflip off of the roll in, backflip tail-whip into the first box to truck driver out, opposite 450 on the hip, front flip bar spin on the first trick jump, opposite tail-whip on the road gap, his signature corked 720 on the second trick jump, backflip bar spin on the spine, tail whip into the whale tail and truck driver out, backflip bar spin to tuck no hander, and finally a backflip opposite tail-whip on the step down in front of a packed crowed of MTB fans.

Monster Energys Sam Pilgrim took home 5th place, while Sam Reynolds took 9th.

The Crankworx World Tour resumes in its birthplace of Whistler, Canada on August 15th where Rheeder will attempt to secure the crowning glory, a potential $ 75,000 and become the first athlete to win the Triple Crown of Slopestyle.

Yusen Logistics (Mexico) S.A. DE C.V. opened two offices at the Mexico City Airport on June 1. By establishing a base on the airport front lines to manage its own air transportation operations, the company aims to realize competitive freight procurement and detailed transportation management of imported and exported freight.

With the rapid growth of the automotive industry and increase in imported freight in Mexico, the need for detailed transportation management is rising. To respond to this demand, Yusen Logistics has opened a “Customs Office” for air import within the free trade zone of Mexico City Airport. Until now, the company conducted these operations through an agency, but by managing these operations internally, it will realize the smooth implementation of various kinds of transportation control, such as checking freight status within airport transit shed, ensuring efficient customs clearance and supervising loading of trucks.

In addition, a “cross dock office” for air export has been opened outside of the airport. Famous Facebook Dog Inspires Community to Take Over Shelter

The Facebook page of Arbor, a former stray dog, has inspired the Las Vegas community to call for a new organization to operate their local shelter. Arbor was adopted a few years ago from the shelter, which is now in jeopardy of losing its municipal shelter services contract to No Kill Las Vegas, a non-profit organization founded by Arbors owners. Arbors Facebook page (@Go Vegas Dog), which has over 500,000 followers, was originally a place to demonstrate her unique talents. Her parents Jennifer and Bryce Henderson discovered early on that she had a knack for learning tricks, such as painting with a brush in her mouth. As a result, Arbor has been featured on Good Morning America, appeared in newspapers around the world, and sold her paintings for thousands of dollars at fundraising auctions. Arbor and No Kill Las Vegas have already had some success following a series of rallies and a petition drive. On February 17th, in a room packed full of No Kill Las Vegas supporters, Clark County Commissioners decided to delay a decision to renew the current provider’s contract until March 17th, in order to give No Kill Las Vegas time to put in a proposal. Corra Group Ramps Up Employment Screening to Commercial Trucking Firms as Hiring Gains After a Downturn

Corra Group is once again ramping up its efforts to assist commercial trucking and transportation compliance requirements as the industry overall shows signs of rebounding after months of a decline. According to the April online issue of Journal of Commerce, the trucking industry had been showing a dramatic decline in hiring, said Corra Group Co-Founder, Nick Gustavson. The industry lost some 6,700 jobs in March but recovered more than a quarter of them in April. In all, hiring in the trucking industry had doubled from 2013 through 2014, going from about 25 thousand jobs to some 46 thousand jobs. This has meant significant competition in the job market, making it tough to find good drivers.

Gustavson pointed out that trucking companies not only need drivers, but they need good drivers. He noted they need drivers with decent safety records, have no substance abuse issues, who will meet DOT compliance standards, and who will show up for the job.

Los Angeles Movies in the Park Series Eat|See|Hear Presents Outdoor Screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel

Eat|See|Hear, Los Angeles’ premier outdoor movie in the park, food truck and live music event series, will be in Griffith Park on Saturday, June 13, to showcase the award-winning film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. This event will be held at the South Lawn of the Autry National Center, located at 4700 Western Heritage Way. Showtime is at 8:30 p.m.

Set between the first and second World Wars, The Grand Budapest Hotel recounts the adventures of Gustave H., a legendary concierge at a famous hotel from the fictional Republic of Zubrowka, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortuneall against the backdrop of a dramatically-changing continent. Directed by Wes Anderson, the star-studded cast includes Ralph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham and Mathieu Amalric.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. to allow movie goers plenty of time to get settled before the movie starts. Since this venue is a grassy lawn, movie goers should bring pillows, cushions and blankets to sit on during the show. Low beach chairs are also allowed for seating, but should be short-legged (no more than 6 inches off the ground).

If you have a tall chair, like a lawn chair or camping style chair more than 6 inches off the ground, you will be required to sit outside the center of the venue, which is marked with signs on both the left and right side of the venue, notes Sharon Sperber, co-owner of Eat|See|Hear.

At 7:30 pm, the LA-based chillwave band, Mansions on the Moon, will take the stage, performing their melodic amalgamation of soft rock and dream pop. The band debuted in 2010 with vocalist Ted Wendler playing the guitar, Ben Hazlegrove at the keyboard, Lane Shaw at the drums and Jeff Maccora at bass. Since then the group has released several albums, and has been selected as one of New Music Seminars Top 100 Artists on the Verge for 2015. Plenty of food trucks will be on hand during the evening, offering a variety of snack foods and meals. The lineup includes Belly Bombz, Brasil Kiss, Canvas Foods, Coolhaus, Slanging Corea, Slummin Gourmet, Son of a Bun, Steamy Bun and more. Food trucks will be open for business at 5:30 p.m.

Movie patrons can park for free in the Los Angeles Zoo parking lot, which is across the street from the Autry. From there, it is just a short walk to the South Lawn. For people who may be biking in, there are racks for parking bicycles for free as well.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance. Advance general admission tickets are $ 12 each for adults ($ 14 at the door), $ 8 for children under 12 years old, and free for children 5 and under.

Buying your tickets in advance is the way to go, because you will automatically be entered to win a R/T flight to Auckland, courtesy of Air New Zealand, advises Sperber.

In addition to general admission tickets, a limited number of Air New Zealand Fashionably Late passes are available for purchase in advance at the Eventbrite website, granting seating in a reserved area, regardless of arrival time.

As is true for every Eat|See|Hear event, movie-goers are welcome to bring their canine companions with them to the event. Dog owners are asked to bring water and water bowls, dog treats, and waste bags to keep their pets happy during the show and clean up after them.
